Wisconsin charter captain, Scott Gutschow, is a Wisconsin native who cut his teeth trolling for salmon and trout as a teenager. He has spent the past 20 years refining his methods for catching kings.
Gutschow, 35, has for the past 15 years operated Reel Action Charters in Sturgeon Bay and concentrates his Lake Michigan fishing on hooking clients into top-end, trophy king salmon. Famed for its outsized salmon, the Bank Reef is a favorite of Gutschow’s and has helped him land countless 20- to 30-fish limits for his summertime clients.
Gutschow, who also specializes in guiding for smallmouth bass and walleyes in the Door County area, is a pro-staff member for: Lund Boats, Mercury Outboards, Lowrance Electronics, Berkley, Fenwick, ABU Garcia, Big Lake Tackle, and Opti-Dodger. He has hosted numerous television crews on Lake Michigan fishing expeditions including “North American Fisherman,” and “North American Outdoors” on ESPN, ESPN2, and OLN. On these episodes he has shared with millions of viewers his tips and techniques for finding and targeting Lake Michigan’s most famous fish … the king salmon.
